Pardon me, boy. Is that the Chatttanooga Choo Choo?

Yes, in fact it IS the Chattanooga Choo Choo.  And it will be pulling into the station with the Dingler Family Reunion onboard!

When Eufaula turned out to not be available for 2011, we decided to move it back to 2012, and find a new host city. We cast our gaze northwards (but not too far north) and landed just past the Georgia border in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

If you haven’t been to Chattanooga, it is in a scenic area, nestled on the banks of the Tennessee River.  It is easily accessible, at the meeting point of three interstates, and filled to the brim with things to do and see.  This won’t be the farthest north we’ve been (that would be Mountain View, Arkansas), but it will be our first reunion in Tennessee.

I’ll post details about the hotel arrangements and how you can book your room later today. I’ll also send out an email to everyone on the mailing list who has an email address on record. We’re only 113 days away, so time to start making plans!

At the 2010 reunion, we decided to look at holding the next reunion at Lakepoint Resort State Park in Eufaula, Alabama.  We looked into this option after we returned hom from Mobile, but they were already sold out for our weekend in 2011.

We waited and checked again after the new year to see if they had any cancellations, but there was no change.  As a result we will not be going to Eufaula for the 2011 reunion. We are working with them, to secure our weekend in 2012, so we will still go there, just a year later than planned.

We are looking at proposals from hotels in a few locations, and as soon as we have something confirmed, we’ll be posting the info here and sending out an email.

Imogene CoburnSteve Coburn passed along word of his mother’s death on July 28.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve and the rest of his family.

You can read the text of her obituary at the Muskogee Phoenix web site. She was the daughter of Hubert and Esther (Davis) Dingler which makes her a descendant of John Dingler, Jr.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ong and the staff of MRMC and Solara Hospital for her care. Memorials may be made to York Street Christina Church, 1125 S. York, Muskogee OK 74403, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Oklahoma Chapter, 500 N. Broadway Ave., Suite 250, Oklahoma City OK 73102 or the charity of your choice.

Friends may send condolences to the family on the web page www.bradleyfuneralservice.com.

Tonight at the annual Dingler Family Reunion dinner meeting, the group agreed to hold next year’s reunion in Eufaula, Alabama, as suggested by Arthur and Brenda Dease.  We will be working with them to make plans for next year as they welcome us to the area they call home.

As always, the location is tentative until we can firm up details, but as of now we look forward to seeing everyone July 15-17, 2011, in Eufaula.

Folks are starting to arrive here at the Wingate by Wyndham off of I-65.  Kristin and I arrived last night after driving down from St. Louis with an overnight in Corinth MS.  We’re hanging out in the hospitality suite at the hotel and welcoming people as they arrive.  Attendance is in the mid-40s now and who knows, some more people may surprise us and get the number up around 50.  Hopefully the nice folks at Wintzell’s Oyster House won’t mind the tardy RSVPs.

Everyone at the Wingate has been very helpful in getting things setup.  The hospitality suite (aka their meeting room) is ready for everyone whether they are looking to chat, do crafts (you know who you are!), look at pictures, and who knows what else.

If you aren’t able to make the reunion, we’re going to have a computer setup with Skype so that you can call in and say hello to some folks and be here virtually.  If you’re interesed in calling, send an email to info@dingler-family.org and we can let you know our contact information.
