Came across an interesting auction on eBay. Someone in Marietta, GA, was auctioning a photo of Green Berry Dingler (1-1-7-4 in the Dingler book) along with “his story and movie deal” for a starting bid of… $1,000,000. Yes, one million dollars. Needless to say, no bids.

An item from the Spring 2004 newsletter.

The 25th annual Dingler reunion will be in Rome, Georgia (Floyd County) on July 16 and 17, 2004.

Rome is a scenic city located 67 miles northwest of Atlanta and 66 miles south of Chattanooga. We appreciate reunion committee member Diane J. Harbin for arranging this year’s reunion. A guided tour of Rome is being arranged for Saturday morning. The meeting will be in the afternoon, instead of at night. Afterwards, we will adjourn to a nearby restaurant to enjoy a meal together.

A block of 30 rooms have been reserved for the reunion at the Holiday Inn. This facility is a resort-type hotel with indoor and outdoor pools and an excellent restaurant. Please make reservations by July 1st and make sure you mention that you are with the Dingler Family Reunion. The room rate is $70 per night for double or king and includes continental breakfast.

A story from the recent newsletter:

Judy Dingler of Social Circle, GA has contacted the caretaker for the Swords Cemetery in Madison County, GA. She is reserving a plot in this cemetery to erect the monument. She has also contacted the Sons of the American Revolution who have expressed interest in holding a dedication ceremony of the marker. The monument can be placed in late 2004 or early 2005, which will allow the family association to honor our ancestor at the 2005 reunion.
