Location for Dingler Reunion 2011 Announced

Tonight at the annual Dingler Family Reunion dinner meeting, the group agreed to hold next year’s reunion in Eufaula, Alabama, as suggested by Arthur and Brenda Dease. We will be working with them to make plans for next year as they welcome us to the area they call home.

As always, the location is tentative until we can firm up details, but as of now we look forward to seeing everyone July 15-17, 2011, in Eufaula.

Kicking off the Reunion

Folks are starting to arrive here at the Wingate by Wyndham off of I-65. Kristin and I arrived last night after driving down from St. Louis with an overnight in Corinth MS. We’re hanging out in the hospitality suite at the hotel and welcoming people as they arrive. Attendance is in the mid-40s now and who knows, some more people may surprise us and get the number up around 50. Hopefully the nice folks at Wintzell’s Oyster House won’t mind the tardy RSVPs.

Everyone at the Wingate has been very helpful in getting things setup. The hospitality suite (aka their meeting room) is ready for everyone whether they are looking to chat, do crafts (you know who you are!), look at pictures, and who knows what else.

If you aren’t able to make the reunion, we’re going to have a computer setup with Skype so that you can call in and say hello to some folks and be here virtually. If you’re interesed in calling, send an email to info@dingler-family.org and we can let you know our contact information.

Thank you Mary & Thomas! Mary and Thomas Klaasen are the first to make a donation, outside of our reunion dinner meeting, to help cover our costs to distribute the newsletter.

In the newsletter we asked those people who receive the newsletter but aren’t able to attend the reunion to consider making a small donation to help cover the costs of producing and mailing the newsletter. All you have to do is click the Donate button on the right side of the page and you can easily and quickly make a donation. Every little bit helps!

Reunion Hotel Booking Now Available

The Wingate by Wyndham in Mobile has been selected as the reunion hotel for 2010. After reviewing the proposals for a number of hotels in Mobile, the Wingate by Wyndham was the clear favorite. We look forward to seeing everyone there in July.

To reserve your room, please contact the hotel directly at (251) 441-1979 and make sure you request the Dingler Family Reunion rate of $89 plus tax for a King or Double room. Our room block is available until July 8, so be sure to make your reservations before then.

Reunion 2010 in Mobile July 16-18

For 2010 we’re moving the reunion back to its traditional 3rd weekend in July, so mark your calendars for July 16-18. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility in changing things last year to accomodate some conflicting events.

And where will we be? Well, if you read the post title, you know where we’re going… Mobile, Alabama! This will be our second time in Mobile, but the first time in 19 years. I’ll post in the next day or so with more information about Mobile.

We’re still working on details for our hotel and dinner meeting lcoation and hope to be able to announce something soon.

The First Virtual Dingler Reunion

Since I couldn’t make it to the Dingler Reunion this year, I’m connected to the meeting room at the hotel using Skype. Not the same as being there, but is definitely the next best thing.

I wasn’t able to make it to the reunion this year due to an illness in the family, but Kristin is there, and she sends us this photo from tonight’s dinner at the Cracker Barrel in LaGrange. Click on the picture for a full-size view.
