My Mother, Wylodene Dingler Stephenson passed away May 26th, 2010. She was the daughter of Walter & Latha Dover Dingler. My Father, Ethridge F. Stephenson passed away in 1997.

She passed away (in Oneonta, Alabama, her Hometown for most of her life) after a relatively brief illness.

She loved to go to the Dingler Reunions. She was 80 yrs old & would have been 81 on July 5th, 2010. We have the Dingler Reunion Tea Cup (1990) when the reunion was in Tyler, Tx. Also the Dinglers of the South Book. They were her treasures. She did go to the Reunion in Marietta, Ga. (I believe in 2009), my sisters took her that last time. She was beginning to be in frail health at that time.

WYLODENE DINGLER STEPHENSON, 81, of Oneonta, died May 26, 2010, at her residence. A native of Cullman, she was daughter of the late John Walter and Latha Dover Dingler and widow of Ethridge F. Stephenson. She was a member of Allgood Presbyterian Church. Others predeceasing her were sisters Frances Sue Mitchell, Fay Wilson, Lucille Dingler; and brother Robert Dingler.

Surviving are sons Early Wayne (Denise) Stephenson, Oneonta, and James A. Stephenson, Hayden; daughters Margaret Gail (Steve) Gurley, Esther Fay Hicks, and Anne Kay Stephenson, all of Oneonta; sisters Evelyn (Howard) Vaughn, Texas, and Catherine Jacobs, Georgia; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lawrence King officiated services Friday, May 28, at 2 p.m. at Valley Chapel of Oneonta. Interment followed at Green’s Chapel Cemetery, Cleveland. Pallbearers were Jeff Stephenson, Michael Wayne Byars, John Stephenson, Charles Lecroy, Brad Pannell, and Brandon Gilliland. Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Cagle and Anthony Wayne Latta.

William Ellot Dingler (1920-2007)

Beverly Palmer passed along a copy of the obituary for her uncle, William Ellot Dingler, who passed away in 2007. The obituary text is as follows:

William Ellot Dingler, 86, or Donaldson, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007, in Baptist Hospital of Little Rock.

He was born July 27, 1920, in Kirby, Ark., to William Issac Dingler and Rosa Thrash Dingler.  He was retired fro, Reynolds Metal where he worked as a crane operator. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country in World War II.  He was a former Mason.

He is suvived by two daughters, Cathy Green and her husband Jim or Little Rock, Ark., Paula Morrison of Jonesboro, Ark.; one brother, L.B. Dingler and his wife Inez of Donaldson, Ark.; one sister, Pat Schales and her husband Henry of Donaldson, Ark.; four grandsons, Sean Morrison and his wife Tina of Paragould, Brad Morrison of Jonesboro, Zachary Green or Conway, Matthew Green of Little Rock; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Dingler; his parents; and a brother, Royce Dingler.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007, in Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rockey Poyner officiating.  Interment will be in Ouachita Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be his grandsons.  Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-7:30 at the funeral home.  Arrangements are under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Malvern, Ark.

Beverly also passed along that her mom, Pat Dingler Schales, always enjoys hearing any news about the Dinglers. Beverly and Pat have not had the opportunity to attend a reunion yet but hope to one day.

Make plans now to attend the 28th annual Dingler family reunion in Little Rock, AR. When making reservations at La Quinta Inn, please specify that you are with the Dingler reunion to receive the special rate of $74.00 plus tax (a substantial discount from the normal rates of $99-$149). This is a large, recently renovated hotel in downtown Little Rock. Please make your room reservations by June 20, 2007 to ensure that you receive the special rate.

The hotel will provide a hospitality room large enough for 50 to 60 people. This 12th floor room, with nice views of Little Rock and vicinity, will be available for us all day Friday and Saturday. On Saturday night, we will have our annual meeting, following a banquet. The event will take place in a spacious church fellowship hall only 2 blocks from our hotel. Cost for the meal will be $15.00 per person. Glen and Jessie Dingler are to be commended for their diligence in arranging for the hotel and banquet.

Little Rock offers a number of attractions. Obviously, the new Clinton Library is now a major tourist destination. A trolley line, the River Rail Electric Streetcar, connects our hotel area to the Clinton Library, as well as the Riverfront District, a noted restaurant and entertainment area along the Arkansas River. The State Capital, Governor’s Mansion, several museums, and a submarine (the USS Arkansas) are all close by. If at least 20 people express interest in touring the Clinton Library, we can arrange for a guided tour.

Mrs. Margaret Dingler Winkles

Mrs. Margaret Dingler Winkles, 78, of Flowery Branch, Ga., died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005. Mrs. Winkles worked at Grady Hospital for 25 years as a switchboard operator.

She was the daughter of the late Harvey Dingler Sr. and the late Lessie (Parden) Dingler.

She is survived by her son, Paul Lee Winkles Jr.; grandchildren, Jeffery Alan Winkles, Jimmy Lee Winkles, Deborah Iduma Gussler, Jerry Timothy Winkles, Michael Lee Winkles, Rhonda Joann Lumpkin, James Ronald Hembree Jr., sterling Denver Stephens, Jennifer Lynn stephens & Ricky Larry Winkles Jr.; great-grandchildren, Amber Lynn Winkles, Ansley Caitlin Winkles, Jessica Nicole Winkles, Kristen Leigh Winkles, Lindsey Jordan Gussler, Jimmy Lee Winkles II, Joseph Ray Shoemake, Stephanie Nicole Lumpkin, Debra Allison Lumpkin, Joshua Paul Lumpkin, Britney Nicole Winkles, Makayla Faith Winkles; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Faver.

Mrs. Winkles is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lee Winkles Sr.; son, Jerry Denver Winkles; son, Ricky Larry Winkles Sr.; and daughter, Bobbie Joann Stephens; brother, Dan Winkles Jr; sister, Linda Burkeene; sister, Dorris Pitts.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family was receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, with Pastor Hubert Caroll officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Ga.
