Terry Cowan currently has well in excess of 300 addresses on the Dingler family mailing list. These names are compiled from those who have purchased books, attended reunions or have otherwise expressed interest. With postage being what it is, such a large mailing is becoming cost-prohibitive. If you have not attended a reunion in the last 10 years or so, but still wish to receive the newsletter, please let Terry (tc@tyler.net or 903-894-7935) know, and he will make sure that your name is not dropped from the mailing list.

We are saddened to report the recent deaths of Winnie Dingler and Frank Wilson.

Winnie Hancock Dingler passed away on January 27, 2005. Winnie was the widow of Isaac Allison Dingler of Granbury, Texas. They attended regularly in the early years of the reunions and took an active part in things. Poor health prevented Winnie from attending in recent years. Obituary

Frank and Lois Wilson have been two of the greatest supporters of the Dingler reunion from its inception. They have, in fact, attended every reunion except for the initial gathering in 1981. Frank’s graciousness, geniality and easy-going demeanor will certainly be missed. Our sympathies are extended to Lois and the family

A total of 56 family members attended the 25th annual Dingler Family Reunion in Rome, GA on July 16th and 17th, 2004. We appreciate all the work of Diane and Banny Harbin who handled the arrangements. The Holiday Inn served as headquarters for the reunion. The Harbins organized an interesting tour of Rome on Saturday morning. Rome is a beautiful and historic city and everyone who participated enjoyed the experience. The family meeting was held on Saturday afternoon, after which many adjourned to a local restaurant to continue visiting.

We also want to express appreciation to William Dingler Paige, who was attending his first Dingler reunion. He scanned the 1983 Dinglers of the South and copied it to disc. Copies of the CD were available for purchase at the reunion. If you would like to purchase Dinglers of the South on CD, contact:

Even though our numbers were down for 2004, those family members who were able to attend certainly enjoyed the annual gathering.

Make plans now to attend the 26th annual Dingler family reunion in Madison, a beautiful and historic town in central Georgia. When making reservations at the Hampton Inn, please specify that you are with the Dingler reunion to receive the special rate of $65 plus tax. The Hampton Inn provides a complimentary breakfast buffet, as well a small meeting room for the two days.

This year’s reunion is especially significant. We plan to hold a dedication ceremony at the gravesite of our Revolutionary War ancestor, Johannes Dingler. We encourage all Dingler descendants to attend this ceremony. This will be an excellent opportunity to acquaint younger generations with their heritage. The schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, July 15

No scheduled activities, though the meeting room will be open for informal visiting. Terry Cowan will bring his laptop and scanner to copy any old Dingler pictures that anyone wishes to preserve and share.

Saturday, July 16

10:00 AM - Dedication ceremony at gravesite of Johannes Dingler, Swords Cemetery, Swords Community (6 miles east of Madison)

1:00-300 PM – Attendees may wish to visit the studio of Charlie Dingler, noted blacksmith and artisan in nearby Monroe, Georgia. Others may want to use this time to visit the numerous shops in the downtown area, as well as the historic homes and neighborhoods of old Madison.

7:00-900 PM - Dinner and meeting at the Madison Market Center in downtown Madison. The family meeting will be held in the James Madison Hall. A buffet dinner will be catered. The cost for the dinner is $16 per adult (with children ages 4-12 at half price and children under 4 free).

Please make your hotel and dinner reservations as early as possible. If you plan to attend, please contact Terry Cowan (tc@tyler.net or 903-894-7935) with the number in your party, and he will notify the caterer.

See you there!
